The story behind Udlært
Udlært was founded on a single conviction: a journeyman gift should reflect the trade the recipient has mastered. Not gift cards or generic tools — but a figurine that tells the story of 4 years as an apprentice, long days on site and the journeyman's certificate that finally went up on the wall.
Behind Udlært: Henrik Beck, design and product development since 2013. Through careful study of each trade's workwear, tools and daily life, we create figurines that are instantly recognised by those who receive them. The carpenter sees their hammer. The plumber sees their pipe. The electrician sees their pliers. It is not a random figurine — it is a figurine of him or her, with the trade-specific character that shows someone took the time.
We make figurines for carpenters, plumbers, electricians, bricklayers, blacksmiths and car mechanics — all designed and made in Denmark from CE-marked, RoHS-compliant material free of lead and mercury.

Danish design and production
All figurines are designed and made in Denmark in our own workshop in Varde. We use CE-marked, RoHS-compliant material free of lead and mercury — the figurines are safe to display at home and last for many years.
You can choose a personal engraving on the base: a name, a year and a short personal greeting — up to 40 characters. Engraving adds 1–2 days to production time. The figurine arrives in a presentation box ready to give.
We offer two sizes: Standard approx. 16 cm and Premium approx. 24 cm. Delivery in 1–3 business days from Denmark. Free shipping on orders over 599 kr.

Frequently asked questions about journeyman gifts
What is a personal journeyman gift from Udlært?
A journeyman gift from Udlært is a handcrafted figurine that reflects the exact trade the recipient has mastered. Unlike generic gifts such as gift cards or tool sets, the figurine tells the story of four years as an apprentice — the long days on site and the journeyman's certificate that finally went up on the wall. The figurine is designed and made in Denmark with trade-specific details recognised by the newly qualified tradesperson.
Which trades do you have journeyman gift figurines for?
We have figurines for six skilled trades: carpenter, plumber, electrician, bricklayer, blacksmith and car mechanic. Each trade is modelled with trade-specific tools and working stances — the carpenter's hammer, the plumber's wrench and the mechanic's overalls are all rendered with care.
Can the journeyman gift be engraved with a name and year?
Yes — all figurines can be engraved with up to 40 characters on the base. It is the personal engraving that makes the gift unique: a name, a year, a greeting or a combination. Engraving adds 1–2 extra days to the delivery time.
What does a journeyman gift cost, and what is the delivery time?
The figurines come in two sizes: Standard (approx. 16 cm) from 689 kr. and Premium (approx. 24 cm) from 899 kr. Delivery within 1–3 business days — with engraving 2–5 business days. All orders over 599 kr. ship with free delivery.
Are the figurines made in Denmark?
Yes. Design, modelling and production all take place in Denmark, in Varde. The figurines are CE-marked and made from RoHS-compliant material free of lead and mercury. The material is durable and suitable for permanent display — the figurines last for many years.
When is the latest I should order before the journeyman celebration?
Without engraving, we recommend ordering no later than 2 business days before the journeyman celebration. With personal engraving, allow at least 5 business days. If you need urgent help, you are welcome to contact us directly — we respond quickly.
What is the return policy on journeyman gifts?
We offer a 90-day return policy and a 2-year warranty on all figurines. Personally engraved items cannot normally be returned unless there is an error on our part. The gift box is included — the figurine arrives ready for presentation.
