Why the packaging is part of the gift

There is a reason people film unboxing videos. The experience of receiving and opening a package is not neutral — it is part of the giver's message. A well-designed package signals care and consideration before the contents are even seen. A brown standard box signals shipping.

The new packaging is natural kraft cardboard in a warm brown shade that supports the craftsmanlike, down-to-earth expression Udlært is built on. The surface is embossed with the trade icons — hammer, spanner, pencil, ruler, cogwheel — running along a dotted line, a reference to the journey from apprentice to skilled worker.

The new packaging is made of eco cardboard — partly produced from recycled material. The packaging is biodegradable and fully recyclable. It can go straight into the paper bin without further sorting.

No UV varnish or metal foil finish has been added. Both are popular packaging additions that give a glossy effect — but they alter the degradability and recyclability. That choice was deliberately rejected. The packaging looks good in its natural state, and the natural state is the most sustainable.

The print is in Udlært's dark teal colour on the natural kraft cardboard — two materials, no surface treatment. Simple, clean and recyclable.

When does the new packaging arrive?

The new packaging is ready from 25 May 2026. From that date, all orders — regardless of size and whether they include engraving or not — ship in the new packaging.

If you have an order due for delivery before that date, it will be shipped in our current packaging. Orders placed after 25 May will automatically receive the new packaging.

If you are a company or institution with an order planned for a graduation or journeyman celebration after 25 May, you can therefore expect the new packaging as part of the delivery.
